At Family Allergy & Asthma Associates, we believe in providing compassionate, competent, and quality care. Therefore, we practice evidence-based medicine in the areas of asthma, allergy and immunology. This means that we base our treatment decisions on data that is grounded in sound medical research. We also keep in mind that any treatment plan must fit the needs of the patient. That is why we make careful assessments of each patient’s needs and tailor a treatment plan that works well for each patient. We believe by working as a team with the patient, we can achieve excellent medical care.
An allergist is a physician who is especially trained to care for patients with allergies, asthma and immunology. Becoming an allergist requires completion of fours years of medical school, three years of training in an accredited program in internal medicine or pediatrics, and at least two to three additional years in a fellowship program, which focuses on the subspecialty of allergy/asthma/immunology. After completion of a fellowship, the allergist must successfully pass a certifying exam of the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI) in order to be board certified in allergy/asthma/immunology.
